We saw the second play of the season for Lakeshore players tonight and it was called “The Cat’s Meow.” This play is the story of what might have happened on William Randolph Hearst’s yacht in November 1924 with some key players in Hollywood of that era including Charlie Chaplin.
As a historical story set with with famous people and a potential scandal, it was a a fun trip back in time. I especially enjoyed the music as a live pianist played the hits from the time as background music and when the players danced the Charleston.
If you are in the West Island this week drop by for this latest Lakeshore Players show. The actors do a great job and the sets are interesting as always.
This story was also told in a movie released in 2001 starring Kirsten Dunst and Eddie Izzard which did not do well at the box office. Maybe the ghost of WR was making sure that no one would see it and his secret would remain lost to the mists of time.
