In another example of how the NFL can really stand for “not for long”, Patriots coach Bill Belichick benched Super Bowl hero Malcom Butler for the first few weeks of “optional” training.
According to the reports, he missed his flight and was late for the first day of training. Since all the other players made it, the coach benched him for two weeks. He was benched even though they are desperate for cornerbacks and he just made the single greatest play by a cornerback to win the Super Bowl only a few months ago.
Not for long, indeed.
